Growth in the New Year

Growth in the New Year!

The New Year is fast approaching and with it comes all the excitement of planning the upcoming events. The past year is just that...past! And now we set our focus on the future. For our church, this past year brought the excitement of the end of our mortgage program and new faces worshiping together with us, but as I look forward to the New Year, I anticipate God doing some amazing things. The theme for our church in 2010 is GROWTH!

This can be taken in many ways. First, it refers to each and every individual in our church taking steps of growth. Each of us can probably identify one or two things in our walk with the Lord that needs to grow. Well, this year, we are going to grow in those areas. One way we are going to do this is by challenging each and every member of our church to read or listen to the whole Bible this year. If you read or listen to the Bible for 30 minutes each day you will be able to finish the entire Bible in one year. You can see the Daily Bible Reading Plan below.

Also, I am expecting the Lord to grow our church this year. This happens as each and every person in our church takes an active role in leading people to Christ. This happens as we speak to others about Christ and as we invite others to church. As a church, we have scheduled three Big Days where we are going to try and double our normal attendance. This will take everyone's help. The first of these days is coming up on January 10th, as we start our "Questions About Heaven" series. Go ahead, start thinking about who you can bring.

Obviously, true growth only happens as God draws people to himself, so we must make these matters a priority in prayer. Why not right now, before you read the next sentence, humble yourself for a moment and ask God for growth. Now, let's go forth expecting God to bring growth to us individually and corporately in the New Year.

See ya next year!
