My day today is designed to get to know two distinguished missionary family who work in the capital city of Wales. The capital city of Wales is Cardiff, and it is very different than the cities in North Wales.
The Richards family, JA and Pam, have been in Wales for just over 20 years. They started a work in North Wales, but were called to South Wales to work in the capital area. They serve one church Sunday morning, then work together with the Owens Family in the evening at Cornwall Street Baptist Church.
Ricky and Jaime Owens also serve at a different church in the morning. Jaime is the daughter of JA and Pam. The Owens joined the work here in 2005!
Today, Monday, It was my pleasure to run around Cardiff with these fine missionaries and see the great need of this area. And just to make sure there were no hidden motives, JA made it clear from the beginning that his goal was to create such a burden for Cardiff that I would return as a missionary to help with the work. There is truly a great need here. Pray that the lord of the harvest would send forth laborers, for the work is great, but the laborers are few!
As a part of our time, We went as saw some local castles. Check out these picture that show the churches and some of our day's travels.

On the road again!
This trip entails a lot of driving. Each day with the missionaries is surrounded by at least 6 hours of driving. And I might add the fact that I am driving on the opposite of the car, the opposite side of the road with many round abouts (rotaries) around which to navigate. Oh and did I mention that the roads are much more narrow here. So I constantly remind myself...protect the passenger... which means keep the passenger away oncoming traffic.
So far, Wednesday, the day we flew in, was a travel day (10 hour drive with a 1.5 hour nap at a road service stop). Friday was a travel day (6 hour drive with a 2 hour service stop for some work). And today, Sunday, is a travel day (4 hour travel between AM and PM services).
Today, we leave Wrexham, North Wales after the AM services and head for Cardiff, South Wales with plans to arrive for the PM services. Please pray for us as we travel!

Kilts, Castles and Haggis
Scotland is a beautiful country! The day after we arrives in Scotland, we set off to Edinburgh. Our agenda for the day...meet with the other missionaries in Scotland and enjoy a day together. The missionaries in Scotland include: The McCaskill Family, The Bergen Family (Jon Bergen was to Pond Hill last September), and The Mills Family (The Mills family is back in the states for a short Furlough).
We were all meeting in Edinburgh for a jaunt up the royal mile to Edinburgh Castle. We had plans to stop for lunch and just enjoy our time together. You know the old saying, when the Baptist meet the Baptist eat!
Along the royal mile we saw many stores. Some of the most noticeable stores were the kilt manufacturers. They were everywhere. I thought about getting one, but then decided against it. Although Scotland is known for their kilts, we only saw one on the royal mile. And the one we saw was unusual, in that i was primarily a solid color, not a clan color.
We finaly made it to the castle around 2 PM, and enjoyed finally reaching the top. Literally it was all down hill from there. It was a welcomed spot. The Castle is still a working military fortification. But it also houses the War memorial, the Royal Jewels, and many other museums. There were even American from the War of Independence that were held captive in Edinburgh Castle. It was an awesome experience.
And about the Haggis...Oh yes, I did!

Hello from Scotland!
Well, after 1.5 hour drive to JFK, 3 hours waiting in the airport, 7.5 hours in a plane, 1 hour going through customs, 8 hours driving on the M1 (with 1.5 hour nap at a service area), we arrived in Scotland at the gracious hosts house. We are staying with Dan and Kathi McCaskill, 22 year veteran missionaries to Wales and Scotland. Now time for sleep!
